That from our resident web dood CoFlo. The subject is unimportant, I just think it's funny.
One thing about CoFlo, he likes tequila at least as much as I do. I'm not talking about that headache-inducing sludge or anything with a worm in it, either. Sure, that stuff gets you drunk, but so will wood grain alcohol. If you want to save yourself a world of hurt, try some decent stuff. You'll discover that tequila doesn't have to go down like fire -in fact it can taste damn good- and that some good stuff is within your financial grasp. We're not tequila snobs by any stretch...that requires a lot more disposable money than we have, but there are a number of good tequilas out there that won't break your wallet, yet comport themselves in the manner of a somewhat higher order.
Take, for example, Amate Reposado.
A 750ml bottle cost me $35 American at the gettin' lit store. Reposado means 'rested,' and this stuff is rested in white oak barrels, which, like whiskey, mellows and develops the spirit's body and taste. It is very smooth on the throat and the flavor is not the distinctly peppery taste typical of most tequilas but instead a bit sweet, with a hint of vanilla, and it feels a bit creamy on the tongue. More of a sipper than a shooter, it goes equally well in a small glass or hip flask. One thing: once you've had a couple of proper swigs or swallows, prepare yourself before standing up. Grab the table with both hands as that tasty smooth & creamy flavor hides the punch that tequila is known for.
Go get some.
