Grappler

Yep. Grappler is our drop-bar trail and touring bike built for singletrack, all-day dirt rides, and bikepacking excursions. It’s designed with a stable, comfortable riding position and generous tire clearance to help you achieve all your dirt dreams.

Bikepacking on Grappler is a treat. The stability, the comfortable ride, the cargo mounts — it all comes together for an experience that makes being in The Great Outdoors even better somehow.

Both are capable of taking you to the edge of our flat Earth or just on a fun tour of your local creepy woods — which one you choose depends on your preferences and how you plan to use it. Grappler is designed around drop bars and 27.5″ wheels and tires and is longer and more stable for riding singletrack and rowdy dirt paths. Ogre on the other hand is designed around flat bars and 29″ wheels and tires and is built more for all-terrain rambles that hit pavement, gravel, and trails.

If you’re gonna make us pick one, we’d say it leans more mountain bike. But its stability and large tire clearance are nice to have on your adventures too. And like many Surly bikes, Grappler rides exceptionally well when loaded down with camping gear. 

If you want to bikepack on your Grappler, all you really need to do is add your rack and bag setup of choice. And we’ve given you plenty of mounts to do that, from the two sets of four-pack mounts on the fork to the extra bottle mounts way back on the seatstays. Grappler also gives you loads of frame bag real estate if that’s how you choose to carry your paraphernalia.
