How to Buy Surly Products
Hey, you. So you’re looking to buy some Surly stuff. Good for you. Don’t bother looking for prices on our website or in our catalog, and don’t ask us to ship stuff to you because we don’t do that. Surly sells through distributors to bike shops, and bike shops are where you can get our stuff.
Since we sell through distributors, there is no such thing as an “Authorized Surly Dealer”. Selling this way gives the shop flexibility to order on demand, rather than have a lot of money tied up with bikes sitting in boxes and leftover inventory at the end of the year.
So how do you get your mitts on our stuff? Well, you can check out our dealer locator. We update it every so often with shops we know have ordered a lot of Surly stuff or who we know to be knowledgeable in all things Surly, but keep in mind that because we don't sell dealer direct the dealer locator is far from a complete listing of those who can get Surly stuff for you. Really, it’s more of a ‘dealer suggestor.’ Your best bet is to call around to your favorite local shops and find out if they can get Surly stuff for you. Most can. In the U.S. we sell to shops through Quality Bicycle Products, and most shops here can order from QBP.
How does this help you test ride the Surly you’re coveting? That’s where it gets tough. Unless a shop has your size in stock, you’ll have to rely on our website with detailed geometry charts for each model. Print these out and compare it to your current bike or another similarly sized bike and figure out what size most closely matches what is comfortable for you (top tube and seat tube lengths are the most critical). Most dealers should be able to assist you in finding the correct sized frame, and of course we’re here to help too. Call us or e-mail us and we’ll do our best to get you riding some 4130 steel.
