Well, the third annual Bike Night at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts has now come and gone, and by all accounts it was a smashing success.  Thanks to all the hardworking folks who made sure everyone had a good time.  There were a lot of those people, too many to recount, so my suggestion is that we all support them by visiting their actual or virtual places of business and spending money there.  For sure this group includes Freewheel, Angry Catfish, One On One Studio, Twin Six, Nice Ride MN, and of course the MIA.  The Bicycle Film Fest launched…

The Minneapolis Institute of Arts is sponsoring its third Bike Night At The MIA next Thursday, July 21.  They are inviting you, the cycling public, into their home to bask in their amazing collections of art and artifacts and to partake in bicycle themed art related activities. O.K., a few weeks ago some of you noticed some things which appeared in a place they were not yet supposed to appear. These things induced palpitations in a small group of bike nerds and questions began immediately to percolate. “Is it what we think it is?” the nerds asked hopefully.  We played it cool. We weren’t yet ready to talk about it.  And then it happened again. Ho-kay.   So, me being the new kid at school and all, I got to wondering where some of the names for our products came from. Some of the names, like the Long Haul Trucker, are pretty self explanatory. Others, like the Karate Monkey, really had thrown me for a loop. I just couldn’t figure out what the hell a monkey had to do with a bike frame, let alone one that would kick my ass.
