Well, the third annual Bike Night at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts has now come and gone, and by all accounts it was a smashing success.  Thanks to all the hardworking folks who made sure everyone had a good time.  There were a lot of those people, too many to recount, so my suggestion is that we all support them by visiting their actual or virtual places of business and spending money there.  For sure this group includes Freewheel, Angry Catfish, One On One Studio, Twin Six, Nice Ride MN, and of course the MIA.  The Bicycle Film Fest launched…

The Minneapolis Institute of Arts is sponsoring its third Bike Night At The MIA next Thursday, July 21.  They are inviting you, the cycling public, into their home to bask in their amazing collections of art and artifacts and to partake in bicycle themed art related activities. It's a good time.  And Surly's giving away a bike.  You could win!  But you probably won't.  And the MIA's Bike Night is also the launch of the MPLS leg of the Bicycle Film Fest, of which Surly is also a sponsor.  Films start showing at the MIA that night, then the fest moves, if…

  So, me being the new kid at school and all, I got to wondering where some of the names for our products came from. Some of the names, like the Long Haul Trucker, are pretty self explanatory. Others, like the Karate Monkey, really had thrown me for a loop. I just couldn’t figure out what the hell a monkey had to do with a bike frame, let alone one that would kick my ass.
