Nick Erdos-Thayer
Product Project Manager

Where did you grow up?
Most places that reside between Mille Lacs Lake and the Minnesota River.

What are your interests/hobbies?
Beers that taste like nothing else I have had before. Food that makes me sweat and question my judgment. Riding my bike to places I’ve never been before.

Who do you think you are, anyway?
Lucky.

Give me your top ten factoids about yourself that others may not realize.

  1. I had hernia surgery as result of human jousting.
  2. I met a group of hunter gathers nicknamed the "Yellow Leaf People" in Thailand and purchased a hand-woven hammock from them.
  3. I really do not like mashed potatoes.
  4. I have a love hate relationship with food trucks.
  5. There was a time a large brown Cadillac hit me; the driver frantically gave me $20 and sped off.
  6. I thought the yellow dandelion and the seeded dandelion were two different flowers for most of my life.
  7. I’ve spent most of my adult life launching gigantic unmanned airplanes into the sky.
  8. I'm not really into junk food anymore but I can't stop eating Oreos once the bag-tray has been opened.
  9. I can’t be tripped.
  10. I’ve spent some time in Afghanistan.

Who or what influences your behavior and why?
I believe the people I surround myself around have a profound influence on who I am day by day. Yet the core of who I am formed from a mix of my calm mother, brutally honest uncle, spiritually open-minded grandmother and very empathetic wife.

What would you say your job is around here?
I try to help the Surly team get from ideas that solve steely problems to tangible products that are awesome while avoiding as much bullshit in the middle.

One sentence to say what you want to. Go.
Time is an illusion, lunchtime doubly so.
